🛶 Alliances Across the Ages

As Maestro Rithialli scrambles backward to leap into his escape craft, his two loyal Genoese sailors lunged forward with bared daggers. But the time travelers are already one step ahead, choosing connection over brute force. Lucy spots the weathered old gondolier who had originally rowed them down the Grand Canal, watching the dockside chaos unfold with wide, anxious eyes.

Sprinting past the flashing blades of the sailors, Lucy intercepts the boatman. Locking eyes with him, she speaks with intense, absolute sincerity, invoking the names of the merchant guilds Dr. Stevens had mentioned earlier. She guarantees him that the strange fish-headed figure is harboring a lethal, foreign pestilence that will destroy his beloved city. Swayed by her burning conviction, the historical boatman nods fiercely. With a masterful, sweeping stroke of his long wooden oar, he steers his heavy black gondola completely sideways across the canal, perfectly wedging it into the stone slipway and blockading Rth-thya-lyi's escape route entirely.

The fish-man panics, his webbed feet slipping on the slick wood of the trapped boat. Seizing the golden opportunity, Corporal Osprey and Dr. Stevens smoothly sidestep the confused Genoese sailors. Osprey tackles the Deep One directly onto the stone walkway, pinning his scaly arms behind his back. Dr. Pfennig swiftly steps in, using her specialized container tools to scoop up the two tiny, bewildered plague rats, Mickey and Priscilla—complete with their miniature liripipe hats—before they can flee into the sewage vents. With a firm, clinical tug, Lucy snatches the inverted trident golden earring right from the anomaly's vestigial left ear. The future of Europe is saved.

With Rth-thya-lyi pinned, Lucy brings up her molecular compressor pistol, instantly snapping the giant fish-man into a micro-sized stasis cube alongside his historical sailors and his hatted rodent companions. The entire biological threat is cleanly vacuum-sealed, ensuring the Black Death of 1348 remains exactly as history intended, preventing a horrifying societal collapse and allowing the glorious Renaissance to blossom on schedule.

Lucy holds up the heavy, inverted trident earring. As the cold metal comes within inches of the team's spatiotemporal extrapolators, the glowing wristbands instantly terminate the Venetian countdown. The crimson 'Stop' icon vanishes, replaced by bright cyan characters humming with neon cybernetic static.

“When the Deep One’s earring is near a spatiotemporal extrapolator wristband, all the wristband displays flash a line of text reading ‘Chiba City, 2122, Shoggoth, thread.’ You tap the green ‘GO’ icon next to the destination and the wristband activates. Your knees go weak, you feel a pulling sensation, your vision blurs, and a few seconds later you find yourself in an entirely different place.”

Scene 3 Completed! The Renaissance is safe. Next stop: the rain-slicked, neon cyber-streets of Chiba City!
