Your vision clears, and you find yourselves near the center of a rectangular plaza in a corporate district. The sun is directly overhead, and hazy light burns through the smog-choked gray sky. A skyscraper is located to the west, a street borders the plaza to the east, and a few retail establishments line the plaza to the north and south. The arrow on your spatiotemporal extrapolator wristband points west toward the skyscraper.
The quiet, medieval stone alleys of Venice are gone in a flash, replaced by a hyper-dense, neon-drenched dystopia. You have materialized inside the Vulcan-Yugu Plaza of Chiba City, a sprawled mega-metropolis growing directly out of century-old post-apocalyptic ruins. Here, corporate giants rule with iron fists, and corporate security forces maintain a fragile grip against anarchic underclass street wars.
Before you can even check your bearings, the sound of weapon-charging cycles signals immediate danger.
“Immediately to the west are a half-dozen guards in black and green power armor, armed with tesla rods and pulse rifles. To the east are a score of tattooed and hooded ninjas, armed with red-hot katanas and explosive shuriken. The guards and ninjas are about to clash, and you are caught in the crossfire.”
