This novel is better known as Conan the Conqueror, but the original title was The Hour of the Dragon.
In this novel, Conan is King of Aquilonia. As many of you already knew, from my post on The Scarlet Citadel, at the very beginning of Conan short stories by Robert E. Howard, Conan obtained the Throne by killing the previous king.
In The Hour of the Dragon, everything happens in a similar manner. The heir of the late king has awake from the dead an evil sorcerer, Xantotun.
Conan is removed from his throne by Nemedian forces, in league with rebels and is about to be killed if not for a girl that saves him. That girl is Zenobia. Does that name sound familiar to you?
He now knows that he must own a magical artefact that could make him deal in equal terms with the mage. The quest is amazing. It makes Conan go from one land to the other in order to regain his throne. In that most of the 160+ pages of this novel.
And after the quest ends, with Conan exhausted, he fights to death his throne, Killing the rebels and them the wizard.
When Conan sits on top of his Kingdom, marries Zanobia. The only woman to have obtained that privilege.
