Stryper, Calling On You

There was an evening where I was watching the only popular music program there was in Spain (it was Tocata) and once every week or every fornight they added a Heavy Metal video. That was the one I was expecting. And that very evening they let us enjoy Calling on You. I was hooked! What a sound.

I really want to play like them, singing so greatly and playing their instruments like that. But the complete package was what really impressed me. The Scenario, the music and the brilliant lights. Not our beloved metalheads dark videos but a fresh one. I wasn't interested in their religious message, but I really was into their music.

What really surprised me a few years ago was an interview in a Guitar magazine where they told part of their history (they are a band that are already playing 25+ years later their foundation) and they commented the troubles they had playing with their christian point of view. And it wasn't the non-believers, that were tolerant to their message. It was the christian groups that manifest against them everywhere they went. Some of those groups were so conservative that didn't accepted the fact that they played rock. I simply don't get it.

Well, enought of the dark side. Enjoy this music. They are very good!

Oh! I forgot, they have released a new album: Murder by Pride.
