Destroyer fue mi primer acercamiento al Kiss de los Setenta. Yo tendría trece años y ya conocía Lick It Up y Animalize, pero poco sabía del grupo de su etapa de maquillaje. Un amigo de clase, Quique, había comprado el disco, más que nada porque era el que tenía la portada más llamativa y pudimos escucharlo todos los chavales de la clase. Además, fotocopió la portada y los que nos gustó, compramos las fotocopias para tener un poster cutre-barato en la habitación (también compré la portada de Powerslave de Iron Maiden). En fin, otros tiempos.El disco era fantástico y poco tiempo después junté el dinero para poder comprármelo yo. Con esta fantástica selección de canciones, mi enganche al grupo era total. La producción de Ezrin se notaba y la banda ganó en calidad musical (incluso con clases particulares de teoría musical) y en disciplina (bueno, no todos, ya que Ace se resistió un tanto). Cuando miro a la lista de discos que produj Ezrin, me maravillo de encontrarle en la producción de todos los discos que más me suelen gustar dentro del rock. Es el mejor.
Destroyer continuó a un disco con éxito con un éxito aún mayor. Pero le costó. Al principio parecía que iba a fracasar, tras caerse de la lista de éxitos demasiado pronto (llegó al número once para caer en un par de meses al trescientos y pico). Pero necesitó tiempo (cosa que no tuvo, porque la continuación Rock and Roll Over llegó a los pocos meses) para alcanzar el platino y dar lugar a la primera gira europea.
En fin, un disco para la historia que os invito a escuchar. No hay canciones de relleno. Todo son gloriosos temas de Rock Clásico. Una gozada total.

A friend class, Quique, had purchased the album, mostly because it was the one with the most striking cover and the kids at school could hear it. In addition, he xeroxed the cover, which we liked, and we bought the photocopies to have a cheap B&W tiny poster in the room (I also bought the cover of Powerslave by Iron Maiden). The album was fantastic and soon afterwards I summed the money to buy it . With such a great song selection, my attachment to the group was complete. Ezrin production was amzing and the band won quality (including music theory tuition) and discipline (well, not all, since Ace resisted somewhat). When I look at the list of LPs that came from Ezrin hands, I marvel to find him in the production credits of all recordings that I like the most in Rock. He's the best.
Destroyer continued Alive! successfully. But it took its time to flourish. At first thought it was going to fail, after falling off the charts too early (it peaked at number eleven to fall into a couple of months to three hundred-odd). It needed time (a commodity it didn't have, because Rock and Roll Over, the next LP came out a few months later) to reach platinum and leading to the first European tour.
A record for history that I invite you to listen. There are no filler songs. All are glorious Classic Rock Tracks. Enjoy.

Posiblemente el mejor disco de KISS. Desconocía los discos producidos por Bob Ezrin, muy grandes.
Ezrin es un artesano del rock. Una maravilla de productor.
Escribir estas entradas me está haciendo escuchar la discografía de Kiss cronológicamente y te aseguro que esta tarde he botado de lo lindo. ¡Qué marcha que tiene este disco!
