I'm a great fan of Disaster Films and this movie about the supposed end of the World should have been one of my favourites, but in my opinion it is a movie second to The Day After Tomorrow. I'm not the number one fan of Emmerich, but I must say that many of his movies are among my personal favorites. He knew how to adapt Godzilla to Western tastes (although the end with so many Sons of Godzilla that always fall before catching the main characters destroyed the impact of the first hour of the film) and Stargate the movie was fascinating when they were discovering how to enter into the Ancient Egypt World.
But it always happens with his movies. After a great opening comes a moderate dissatisfaction.

After a roller-coaster first hour where we learn the terrible fate of an Earth were particles work in different ways that they should do, induced by micro-waves poured by the Sun, its core began melting and two disasters join. Earthquakes followed by volcanos and Tsunamis galore. The heroes survive to join the survivors in their demented version of the Ark that would save the animals and people from the Flood. He directed a Noah's Ark SF version. It was great to know that Emmerich used common sense when he discovers to the public that not the most fitted but the richer of the rich will have enough to buy a ticket to salvation. Goodbye to Humanism.
Well, but if you forget all weak points in the script, you could enjoy a great spectacle that will make you jump from your seats a lot. And yell!

Doctor, a mí me pasa igual.
