Another favourite of mine. Dio´s Sacred Heart from 1985 featured this first video and I love it!
The story behind this song is quite naïve. I think this idea of rocker guys as outsiders is very weak and unjust. When I was a kid, I love the way they resign from common jobs and society. Now I found that Dio was giving a wrong message to us. But it doesn’t matter. It was a thing from the past.
I remember thinking that this actors wasn’t R n’R children. In fact they dress like rappers or, as we said back then, break-dancers. But I understand it was something thought outside Dio’s mind. Perhaps as a way to attract attention from kids not into Heavy Metal.
The chord ostinato in 8/8 was something that got me hook. I was studying this kind of rhythms and I tried to play it on drums. And of course, Ronnie James voice. What a singer!!!
Well, not much on my part. Enjoy the embed.
Dio - Rock N' Roll Children
[via compac]
It was starting to rain
On the night that they first decided
It was blinding with snow
On the night that they ran away
They were found in the dark
But they never returned
Just like somebody slammed the door
She was meant to be wild
He was nearly a child
But they only could feel each other
They were paper and fire
Angel and liar
The devil of one another
Then they were thrown to the ground
Wiht a terrible sound
Just like somebody broke a heart
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Alone again
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Without a friend
But they got Rock 'N' Roll
It was starting to rain
On the night that they cried forever
it was blinding with snow
On the night that they screamed goodbye
They were lost in the dark
And they never returned
Just like somebody slammed the door
On Rock 'N' Roll Children
Alone again
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Without a friend
