QRIII (in fact the fifth album, but their third Major Label recording) was a hit in 1986. To me this was the coolest Rock album ever produced and I still consider it to be an incredible production. That was what Quiet Riot was about.
There is no Randy Roads nor Rudy Sarzo in this Quiet Riot LP, but when I listen to “Base Case” by Chuck Wright, I can easily understand why I love Bass playing (and he plays fretless, wow!!!). And the synths by guitarist Carlos Cavazo where so innovative at that time that, being the keyboard player of a rock band back them, I must say this keyboards where standards to me. When I listen to Children of Bodom’ Keyboardist, Janne Wirman, I find similarities.
This QR III has only one Quiet Riot Hymn, “The Wild and the Young” but it has many great songs that give us a glimpse of what can we expect of a Rock Band in the Eighties.
Kevin DuBrow (recently deceased) and drummer Frankie Banali were the only permanet members of the band. Kevin DuBrow was the perfect American Hard-Rock singer. So powerful and vibrant. So alive that his death was a very important loss to the Metal comunity. We can read in The Metal Circus that Banali has disbanded Quiet Riot since the passing away of DuBrow, after the launching of “Rehab”.
Well, let’s honour this great artist by embeing the two videos of this recording.
I don’t think this setting was right. I don’t remember, but I think it was Peter Gabriel that considered that videos were so cliché that you can say what kind of music will be along them. And Metal videos at the time were all the same. Rock musitians dressed as Glam-Rock guys, lots of women in bikini or else and debris. To me this songs represents style and glammour. So listen to them but don’t pay much attention to the images.
The first one is The Wild and The Young and It was about Rock’n Roll being the way of salvation. If you listen to Manowar’s Fighting the World”, you will find the same idea. Back in those years, some congressman were trying to censorship lyrics of Rock bands. It went to nothing, but is was a certain treat at that time.
Nothing stays the same
For this jukebox generation
Adhere to fashion
Like computer games
Modern day communication
The news hard to take
Will fade tomorrow
They are the strong
They'll survive
The wild and the young
They all have their dreams
The wild and the young
They've got to be free
The sun never sets
For souls on the run
The wild and the young
Yeah
Hah!
Roaring passion
With no guilt or shame
It's accepting education, yeah!
Misbehaving
No regrets, no blame
With a bold kind of sophistication
So close to the edge
And high on the wire
They are not wrong
They're alive
The wild and the young
They all have their dreams
The wild and the young
They've got to be free
The sun never sets
For souls on the run
The wild and the young
Ha!
So close to the edge
And high on the wire
They are not wrong
They're alive
Look out!
Wild, wild
The wild and the
Young, y-y-y-young
The wild and the young
They all have their dreams
The wild and the young
They've got to be free
The sun never sets
For souls on the run
The wild and the young
They all have their dreams
The wild and the young
They've got to be free
The sun never sets For souls on the run
The wild and the young
Oh yeah
The wild and the young
Oh
Right
The second embed is one of my favourite songs. Twilight Hotel is an incredible crafted song with nice arrangements an flawless performance. But the video is awfull, I’m sorry to say.

Midnight masquerade
Innocent fantasies
Never ended from room to room
Dressed up for sharades
Every guest has a part to play
And the rules are understood
Undercover
A secret rendez-vous
They won't discover
That it's me and it's you
At the Twilight Hotel
Check your soul at the door
They've got memories to sell
And so much more
Last call at the bar
Fast talkin' it promises
Never really reaching the lines
Seems to bizarre
Such a twisted reality
This place full of manic minds
It's like a dreamland With time standing still So make your big plans They've got all the frills At the Twilight Hotel
Check your soul at the door
They've got memories to sell
And so much more
In the Twilight Hotel
Price of life still like gold
It's a twilight magic spell
And anything goes
Undercover
A secret rendez-vous
They won't discover
That it's me and it's you
At the Twilight Hotel
Check your soul at the door
They've got memories to sell
And so much more
In the Twilight Hotel
Price of life still like gold
It's a twilight magic spell
And anything goes
