Mission Log: Child of the Damned
🎩 A Mind Over Matter
The Ghoul charges through the settling dust, his blood-soaked cavalry sabre raised high. But instead of flinching, Lucy rides right to the vanguard with a bright, confident smile. Drawing on her extensive background with unusual entities, she raises her pearl-handled Derringer, takes aim, and yells out a highly bizarre, completely fabricated secret cult hand-greeting combined with a sharp, sarcastic remark about his choice of historical headwear.
"Hey, Rollins! The Grand Lodge called, they want their top hat back—and your alignment is completely off!" she shouts, firing a warning shot that grazes his fancy black brim. The pure absurdity of a modern redhead shouting cultist jargon while wearing a maid's apron causes the charging anomaly to momentarily falter in sheer confusion.
Capitalizing on the distraction, Dr. Steven Stevens steps forward as the intellectual anchor. Utilizing his deep knowledge of the occult, he projects his voice across the battlefield, chanting a linguistically precise psychological countermeasure. The authoritative cadence of his Edinburgh accent lends an undeniable force to the words, creating an overwhelming mental pressure that visibly drains the Ghoul's supernatural momentum.
Before the creature can recover its balance or strike back, Corporal Morgan Osprey operates with flawless tactical precision. Moving in as the team's shield, he raises his 12-gauge shotgun, using his physical presence to perfectly pin the entity down and completely cover Lucy as she readies the experimental ORUS containment gear.
Lucy leads a psychological and tactical ambush to disorient the anomaly, supported by Dr. Stevens' occult dampening and Corporal Osprey's heavy combat cover.
Result: Near Critical Success! Because the guess is exactly one away from the secret number, the outcome is better than expected. The Ghoul is completely paralyzed by the coordinated mental and tactical assault, allowing the team to capture him cleanly without requiring an additional combat exchange.
🔫 Target Secured
With the Ghoul entirely immobilized by the team's flawless synchronization, Lucy pulls the orange molecular compressor pistol from the backpack. She points the bright plastic barrel at the snarling Maynard Rollins and squeezes the trigger.
A brilliant flash of orange light envelopes the anomaly. Instantly, the tall, skeletal flag-bearer shrinks downward, compressing rapidly until he is no larger than a chess piece. Corporal Osprey pops the metal lid off the first stasis equilibrator jar, scoops up the miniature, furious Ghoul, and secures the lid tightly. The entity bangs harmlessly against the glass, thoroughly contained.
Dr. Stevens steps forward to retrieve the prize: Lord Cardigan's blue woolen cardigan sweater, left behind on the grass. As his fingers brush against the fabric, our spatiotemporal extrapolators beep in perfect unison, their Bluetooth matrices instantly programming the next set of coordinates.
"All the wristband displays flash a new line of text reading: 'New Angeles, 2050, Mi-Go, sword.' We tap the green 'GO' icon... our knees grow weak, the world blurs into a kaleidoscope of neon lights, and the chronological pull whisks us away from the battlefields of Crimea..."
Scene 1 Completed! The first anomaly has been neutralized. The timeline is safe... for now.
