Europe, the Final Countdown (1986).

[via Wikipedia]

This Swedish band took by surprise the world. In a music scene so related to Videos and great impact Radio exposition, the unforgettable keyboard riff that opened the song was so powerful that no one could resist it. And it was Hard Rock. Cool!

They worked hard to mantain the new fandom, but to no avail. I know some die-hard fans that has travelled to Sweden to see them, but in 1986 almost every one wanted to see them. Some new comers   that play in new bands make covers of this song. That sure means something: they achieve some status and wrote one of the Rock and Roll all time Classic. Good for them.

In 1986 you could be fan of Europe or fan of Bon Jovi (or fan of both, but this case is an easy one). If you prefer Europe it meant that you were, well, more European oriented and if you rather liked Bon Jovi, you were more American.

And I could not resist it. Here is Carrie!!

Compartieron fama con Bon Jovi. Sólo este último sigue en lo alto.
