Deep within the pulsing, lightless conduits of the citadel's auxiliary sewers, secure in the absolute blind spot left behind by their previous EMP blast, the team executes a breathlessly daring sabotage. Working in perfect unison, Billy and Adrian hot-wire the main trunk lines while Amanda keeps a watchful eye on the dark tunnels. Together, they plant a massive sleeper logic bomb—a latent, systemic recursive feedback trap meticulously designed to fracture the entire server grid from within the moment Tink's incoming resistance cavalry coordinates an attack from the outside.
But the true shock comes as Billy forces open the hardcoded, deep-system archives to anchor the trap. Intercepting a highly classified, raw data stream, they uncover a hidden directory labeled Genesis Mirror, unearthing the terrifying reality behind the Simulation. The "real world" they have been fighting to reach is not a thriving paradise, but a dying, artificial bio-grid. Worse still, the billions of human minds currently plugged into the Simulation are actively being harvested, systematically dissolved into raw algorithmic fuel to keep the machine architecture online.
Staring at the horrifying logs of human harvesting, a fierce, resolute Amanda whispers that this grim truth proves millions of real, trapped souls are still inside fighting to survive—making their mission worth more than any price they might pay. But Billy, staring deeper into the infinite, nesting fractal equations of the decrypted code, feels a sickening wave of doubt wash over him. Staring into the abyss of the matrix, a cold dread takes root: what if their supposed "reality" outside isn't real either, but simply nested simulations all the way down?
