Tether: Session 10 - The Temporal Glitch & The Surveyor Map
Click to expand previous episode recap
The moment Victoria dropped out of the rift and into the 1996 timberlands, the air shuddered with a violent, electric shockwave. A heavy temporal backlash tore through the sawmill grounds, causing futuristic tools and modern objects from 2026 to glitch and materialize out of thin air around the machinery like spectral debris.
There was no time to question the impossibility of the falling objects. As the towering branch entity surged forward, its shadow swallowing the yard, I grabbed my daughter by the hand. We scrambled desperately into the dense, choking brush of the surrounding woods, our hearts pounding in sync. Safe under the thick canopy for a brief, breathless moment, we unrolled an old surveyor map on the damp earth and discovered a crucial, glowing physical weakness etched directly into its ancient lines.
Having Victoria here in 1996 feels like a waking dream, terrifying and miraculous all at once. The temporal shockwave brought pieces of her future right into our world, but more importantly, it guided us to the map's hidden markings. We finally know where its core is vulnerable. The hunt is on, and for the first time, I don't have to face the dark alone.
