The tension in Oakhaven has finally boiled over into outright chaos. Whispers and panic are sweeping through the town square following reports of a missing hiker out near the logging trails—an eerie echo of the dread that preceded my father's disappearance thirty years ago. But the real shock came when I stepped closer to the stone pillars of the town hall.
Fresh geometric markings had been crudely etched into the stone, matching the identical symbols Michael recorded finding on the timber trees near the sawmill's water wheel. Before I could even process the discovery, a familiar figure stepped out from the shadows: my mother, Madelaine. She had been the silent watcher all along, desperately trying to suppress a bitter historical dispute between the loggers and town officials that she feared would awaken the curse.
Confronting Mom on the steps of the town hall shattered whatever illusions we had left. She tried to claim she was just protecting me from old ghosts, but the geometric carvings on the stone prove otherwise. The past and the present are bleeding together, and the town's deliberate cover-up is falling apart right before our eyes.
