The air around the sawmill grows heavier with each passing hour, thick with the scent of pine resin and impending dread. Down on the logging floor, the atmosphere is fractured by tension, and the ordinary rhythms of our work have given way to furtive glances and nervous speculation among the crew.

Earlier today, while inspecting the perimeter near the water wheel, I overheard the older loggers whispering in hushed tones about a secret meeting place deep in the woods—a hidden clearing where previous generations allegedly gathered to appease whatever entity slumbers beneath the roots. But the unease deepened sharply when an unfamiliar traveler appeared on the property, asking probing questions about the sawmill's management and operations.

The stranger who visited the mill today felt entirely out of place, asking questions that brushed too close to the dark truths we try to keep buried. As the loggers whisper of secret forest clearings and appeasement rituals in the dark, I can feel the walls closing in. If Victoria is reading this across the decades, she needs to know that the secrets of this town extend far beyond what anyone is willing to admit.
