Clash, London Calling

[via Wikipedia]

I really don't care much about punk. I love more sofisticated way of doing rock, but the Clash is a band to be put aside this rock style. They understand many ways of doing music and added to their personal conception of rock, spawning one of the best rock music ever.

London Calling has many great songs along boring stuff that fans should consider cool. But not in my book.

The main title song is one of my favourites and I think is amazing how great this proclaim works so well after all this years. In 1979, at the very end of the first wave of punk music, they combined the experience of harsh rock and ska with fresh pop and rockabilly. An explosive mix.

I remember the song in Bill Elliot movie and the scene was great. Some stuff is graved in stone.

[via Wikipedia]

I watch Rude Boy, the movie made with the music of The Clash and I don't remember if London Calling was in it, but I do remember the powerful portrait of the punk society. A great documentary, indeed.

Musicaly, London Calling has an imaginative structure, with one of the best bass lines ever played. And the cover, so cool, a homage to Elvis First LP.

From a Metal-head, I salute the great Clash!

The Clash - London Calling (Official Music Video) [720p]

This is the official music video for The Clash's London Calling, in brilliant 720p!!

Lyrics:
London calling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared - and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look at us
All that phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the REIGN of that truncheon thing

CHORUS
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning - I, I live by the river

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go at it alone
London calling upon the zombies of death
Quit holding out - and draw another breath
London calling - and I don't wanna shout
But while we were talking I saw you running out
London calling, see we ain't got no HIGH
Except for that one with the yellowy eyes

CHORUS x2
The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in
Engines stop running and the wheat is growing thin
A nuclear ERROR, but I have no fear
Cause London is drowning - I, I live by the river

Now get this
London calling, yes, I was there, too
An' you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
London calling at the top of the dial
And after all this, won't you give me a smile?
London Calling

I never felt so much a' like

London calling, esa maravilla, aparece traducida:

Mítico, si señor...música de la buena

David, me adhiero a tus palabras.

Y me salta: "estrategia comercial" o algo parecido.
