Silent Running is one of my favourite sad movies. It is a 1972 movie With Bruce Dern in the main role. A decadent Earth has lost all the forest and Wildlife. In a small number of spaceships around Saturn, there are some Domes preserving the sole survivors of this forest, deserts, seas and poles.
But this project has been forgotten and in Earth they send the order to get rid of them. Nobody cares but Lowell (Dern). He has to fight for saving the Domes. He must even kill his partners but to no avail. Only a Dome survives.
He is aided by three robots, and as a child I was in love with them. It really made me sad when one of them get damaged and I almost cry at the end. Sorry, no more information or it would be a spoiler.
Here in Spain, they change its name to Naves Misteriosas (Mystery Ships) and they released at TV some Saturday morning in the late seventies of early eighties. And it really shock me. I loved everything. From the message, the setting, the idea and, of course, the robots (drones). They were R2-D2 early prototypes.
It was at the early stages of Nature consciousness, Green energies and Caring of wildlife. Ecology was becoming more and more popular. And this kind of movies help to make us thing about our environment.

Jo, me lo has dejado claro, Doctor.
