This is the story of a song that took its time to grow but when it did, it grew as big as classic tune could do.
Waaktaar and Furuholmen was creating a mixture of acoustic and synths that was to be their jump from the Norwegian music scene to the English scene. In London they didn't achieve the success they need and returned to Norway.

In Norway they ask Morten Harket to join them as the main singer. He was in a band, but he wasn't happy so he went with them back to London.
There they wrote what was to become Take On Me. One version that didn't attract attention. But a British producer get hooked and help them remix the song. It was Techno-Pop. But it also failed.
A little time latter, an American producer sign a contract with the band and the new remix was what we remember. From then on, the band is a reference of Norwegian music and one of the best bands that survived the 80s into the new millenium.

We're talking away
I don't know what
I'm to say I'll say it anyway
Today's another day to find you
Shying away
I'll be coming for your love, OK?
Take on me, take me on
I'll be gone
In a day or two
So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But that's me stumbling away
Slowly learning that life is OK.
Say after me
It's no better to be safe than sorry
Take on me, take me on
I'll be gone
In a day or two
Oh the things that you say
Is it life or
Just a play my worries away
You're all the things I've got to
remember
You're shying away
I'll be coming for you anyway
Take on me, take me on
I'll be gone
In a day or two
