Tina Turner, Private Dancer (1984).

Boy, what an album! Seven singles and all the songs are landmarks in Rock-Pop History. I choose this story-song wrote by Mark Knopfler (he has some crush from Private stuff, like Private Investigations).

The song was ready for Dire Straits' Love Over Gold when Knopfler thought that it was not suitable for him to be sung. Sometime later, the song was offered to Tina Turner.

This version was recorded by many of the Dire Straits band members, with a replacement of the drummer and Knopfler. This time the guitar is Jeff Beck. Not a bad replacement, don't you think?

And Tina Turner took the song and reached to the top. She is amazing giving life to a song and this is not an exception. From then on, she would always be considered as the Queen of Pop.

(M. Knopfler)

Producer: Carter

Albums: Private Dancer (84), Simply The Best (91), The Collected Recordings (94)

All the men come in these places

And the men are all the same

You don't look at their faces

And you don't ask their names

You don't think of them as human

You don't think of them at all

You keep your mind on the money

Keeping your eyes on the wall

I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money

I'll do what you want me to do

I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money

And any old music will do

I want to make a million dollars

I wanna live out by the sea

Have a husband and some children

Yeah, I guess I want a family

All the men come in these places

And the men are all the same

You don't look at their faces

And you don't ask their names

I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money

I'll do what you want me to do

I'm your private dancer, a dancer for money

And any old music will do

Deutch marks or dollars

American Express will do nicely, thank you

Let me loosen up your collar

Tell me, do you wanna see me do the shimmy again?

Muchas gracias, Juan.
