After discovering the cult's ritual deadline of September 30th at the Black Crag, the party swore a solemn oath to intervene. They traveled to Oakhaven to upgrade their gear and tracked down a vital cult supply wagon on the highway.
Racing down from the mountain heights, the party executes a lightning-fast detour to Oakhaven to cash in their hard-won vault treasure, transforming their status from simple adventurers to well-equipped heroes. Niles, ever the cunning negotiator, rolls an impressive 17 on his Haggling check at the town's mystic bazaar, skillfully trading the heavy silver chalice and a significant portion of their gold. The results are immediate: Darkblade now stands armored in premium steel chainmail, Elanna coats her greatsword in blessed silvered oil to bypass the supernatural defenses of the cult, and Thaddeus secures two powerful, newly transcribed spell scrolls to bolster his repertoire for the coming trial.
Wasting no time on celebration, the group pivots out of the village gates, pushing their mounts to a breakneck pace toward the primary mountain highway. Their goal is clear: to intercept the cult's logistical backbone before it reaches the Black Crag monoliths. As the purple twilight of September 27th blankets the ravine-cut road, Niles scouts ahead and spots a heavy wooden wagon rumbling slowly forward, protected by a squad of grim, robed zealots. Elanna signals the strike, rolling a 16 on the party's initiative to seize the advantage.
With a battle-cry that echoes off the canyon walls, the adventurers spring from the concealing brush. Darkblade crashes into the wagon's guard detail with his new shield held high, while Elanna cuts through the dusk with her silvered blade, forcing the cultists to scramble. Thaddeus unleashes a crackling bolt of lightning from his staff, shattering the wagon's defenses and trapping the remaining guards. The ambush is absolute; the supply line is severed, and with it, the cult's last hope of fortifying their ritual site before the final confrontation on September 30th.
