Last month, on New Wave Music Wednesday, I propose you Duran Duran. This week I propose you this side project that took half of Duran Duran (John and Andy Taylor) plus the impressive Robert Palmer and Tony Thompson and Bernard Edwards, both from Chic. Together they founded The Power Station. The other half of Duran Duran (Simon LeBon and Nick Rhodes) create the side project Arcadia (I’ll talk about them in some other occasion).

Duran Duran is an elegant rock band, Arcadia is an experimental pop band. But Power Station was all that, powerful rock with a lot of experimental textures and as elegant and smooth as Robert Palmer always was. They released their masterpiece 1985, with eight songs, some of them covers. And I always “feel the heat” when I listen to it.

In 1997, they returned making it big with a second recording, Living in fear, but it is unlikely to reform, since Palmer passed away in 2003.
