On August 10th, Adrian’s digital anomalies flared up in a wave of terrifying green code, prompting a deep philosophical explanation of their virtual reality from both Amanda and Billy. Billy managed to damp the localized signal burst, but the intense systemic feedback completely fried his mobile flip phone.
Ditching the compromised safehouse on August 11th, Amanda and Billy keep themselves in peak operational shape, moving with practiced discipline through the neon-drenched rain to seek out Tink. They know the paranoid scrap merchant well enough to navigate the traps around the junkyard workbench, but just as Billy begins negotiating for a replacement transceiver to repair his fried flip phone, a sharp, unscripted burst of static overrides the local frequencies.
Instead of a routine diagnostic, Amanda’s battery-powered go-bag radio crackles to life with a low-frequency, heavily encrypted broadcast from The Seer, bypassing the network block completely to deliver a chilling warning that their time has run out and a physical data-stabilizer drop-box has been left in the municipal park.
SYSTEM LOG // MECHANICS
Amanda rolls Reading People (d8) to safely handle Tink's acute paranoia and prevent the unhinged junk merchant from drawing weapons or sounding an alarm.
Result: 6 (Success). Tink lowers their guard and agrees to look for a compatible node component, right before the broadcast overrides the hardware entirely.
