The concerts that Simple Minds offered in 1986 were recorded to create a compilation of their past career and the way they want it to project into the future. They changed their New Wave feeling into a Stadium Rock, sometimes Prog and AOR and sometimes simple spacious. And that is the way Promised You a Miracle turned to Rock.
I remember being at a family meal with my grandmother, uncle and parents and before we seat, I listened to this song and video and getting hooked with them.
The next year, I get by Christmas the Live in the City of Light double LP (but, ARGH!, not with the wonderful booklet that one of my friends had) and a black Shirt similar to Charlie Burchill's.

Then I listened to the original version from 1982 New Gold Dream and I didn't recognized the power of the song at first. But listening again, I enjoyed the New Wave germ that became one of my favorite songs. Now I listen interchangeably both versions.

Muchos recuerdos me trae éste y otros tema de Simple Minds, un gran grupo que combatió en el mismo territorio que U2 aunque con menos suerte.
VALENTIN, un excelente grupo q nos marcó básicamente el los 80'. Memorable el concierto q dieron por aquí por Valencia en el estadio del Levante, con Comité Cisne de teloneros.
Uffffff q recuerdos, y q mayores nos hacemos. :)
Doctor, no te creas. Jim Kerr fue tan popular en los ochenta y primeros noventa como Bono (puede que más por los matrimonios que por la influencia de su música, aunque yo valore más su trabajo que los rollos de la vida privada). Pero pasado el 1995 o así, el grupo dejó de funcionar para el gran público, cosa que no le pasó a U2 (o más bien a Bono, que se convirtió en estrella omnipresente).
