Sonisphere Spain 2011 (8): Iron Maiden.


And now the jackpot. The amazing and always kings of Metal, IRON MAIDEN. As it would be expected, the audience will roar when they'll reach the satage of Getafe Open Air.


Many things are being said about Iron Maiden, but 2000+ shows in their long career means a lot to Maiden's Fans. This Saturday they are going to be amazing. That's for sure!

Sonisphere Spain 2011 (7): Dream Theater


Hotter than Hot!!! Just before Maiden, DREAM THEATER!!!
Unbelievable. I will have no time to rest! And there is new material from their upcoming new release.


I have already wrote about the band in an old post, but this band post-Portnoy has new approaches to music and we will have our little portion of the new "cake": A Dramatic Turn of Events, the title of the new album.

Sonisphere Spain 2011 (6): Uriah Heep.


This is the latest band added to the cast of stars of Sonisphere Spain. It was due to the declining of Alice Cooper.

This band is not only legendary. It is pure history of Rock. From 1969, they have been in the spotlight. Just from the beginning of Heavy Rock to present. And they released their 23rd studio album this very year. That's the way of being forever young.

El Escenario del Sonisphere ya está listo.


Este es el aspecto del escenario y la zona del Getafe Open Air ayer (13 de julio de 2011) al medio día.

A la derecha se ve el escenario y a la izquierda una enorme carpa. El recinto estaba ya acordonado (si es que hay que decirlo así) y no se podía acceder.

Sí, ya sé. La imagen es mala de narices, pero es que no soy muy buen fotógrafo y creí que iba bien encuadrada.

Además, estaban los de seguridad (bueno, uno) y no quería líos.

Sonisphere Spain 2011 (5): Twisted Sister.


After Maiden... the Sisters!!!

One of the Bands I'm more interested in seeing this Saturday-Sunday is Twisted Sister. A band from the early Seventies (1972 where it was formed and since 1976, the band of Dee). And in the Eighties, until they disbanded in 1987, one of the greatest in Hair and Glam Metal. A Must See.

Sonisphere Spain 2011 (4): Mastodon


At 16:35, Mastodon will be in the Sonisphere Spain Stage rocking all of us!!

Mastodon has being touring with Metallica (World Magnetic Tour). Their last release, Live at Aragon, has nothing to do with Aragorn of the Lord of the Rings, neither with Aragon, here in Spain. It is the Aragon Ballroom in the USA.

Sonisphere Spain 2011 (2): Lacuna Coil.

Second post of this special series showcasing the bands that are going to rock Getafe next Saturday in the Sonisphere Festival.

Lacuna Coil is an Italian band from Milan formed in 1994 and that is getting ready for their next release, after 2008 album - Shallow Life. Its working title is Dark Adrenaline and it is sure that the band will rise their adrenaline to the sky.

They will close the Festival, being the last band to perform on stage.

Sonisphere Spain 2011 (1): Hammerfall.


Just ready to rock this Saturday! And anxious to see this amazing bands in Getafe (Madrid). And Here is my little posts to present all the bands.

Hammerfall is a Sweden metal band that has being rocking since 1993 and recently has released under Nuclear Blast label their new album, INFECTED. Here you can see one of the songs we can surely here at Getafe. Let's Rock!!!

Yes Fly from Here 2011.

I found this new album of Yes (the first in many years) and I was shocked by the "Drama" reunion-line Trevor Horn retakes that amazing album that I have already commented here with a great band were both Wakeman and Anderson are replaced, like in the 1973 album. Less Keyboard solos, but more background pads.

The new singer is Benoît David, and he places himself in a lower Ian Anderson mood. The new album's name is Fly From Here and it has a long composition at the beginning, leading to long but more conventional songs.

This album was released a few days ago and it is not going to be sale until Tuesday in the USA. So go for the bottom link and enjoy it before you buy it. Yes has returned to this hudge sound of Drama with a Fly From Here five part (plus overture) song that leads from epic and amazing to... Cartoonist? (listen Bumpy Ride) and may be they are not aware, but Life On A Film Set, starts with a guitar too close to Alice Cooper's Gail at harpsichord.

An interesting album, not one of Yes better set of songs, but amazing if we compare it with the music today is being released by the Big Industry.

TBO Edición Coleccionista. Vigésimo Séptima Entrega.

TBO 1966 (Incluye un especial dedicado a Coll)

Contenido:

  • Almanaque Humorístico de TBO para 1966
  • TBO Extraordinario dedicado al dibujante Coll
  • TBO Extraordinario de Vacaciones
  • TBO Extraordinario dedicado a Morcillón y Babalí

¡Qué portada! Pero es que si uno mira dentro ve otra portada clasiquísima. La imagen de la portada fue reutilizada como portada del primer número del TBO de Ediciones B, a finales de los ochenta, reuniendo las dos escuelas, Bruguera y TBO, que habían quedado a su cargo y en su propiedad. Fantástica revista, aquel TBO clásico-moderno de Ediciones B.


La otra portada, reutilizada como portada para un tomo de El TBO de Siempre (concretamente el séptimo), recientemente publicado por Ediciones B bajo la dirección de Antoni Guiral.


Buenísimo en contenidos, pero lo mejor viene en los especiales dedicados a Coll y los personajes de Benejam. En número de Coll es delicioso hasta decir basta y la selección de Eustaquio Morcillón y Babalí es una maravilla. No me canso de leer y releer historietas de Benejam y de Coll. A cual mejor.


Guiral aprovecha para hacer una revisión de la situación de TBO en el año 1966, con su caída lenta en ventas, pero su subida en la calidad de siempre y Pedro Poncel, continuando la labor de Moliné en el número anterior, analiza en paralelo la evolución de Editorial Valenciana (Jaimito) y TBO. La biografía es de Vázquez, que también trabajo para TBO en contadísimas ocasiones.


Me he vuelto a dar el gustazo de colgar la imagen con mayor calidad y tamaño para que la podáis ver y disfrutar si hacéis clic sobre ella.

TBO Edición Coleccionista. Vigésimo sexta entrega.

TBO 1974 (Con un especial de Opisso)

Contenido:

Este número lo esperaba desde hacía tiempo. El Extra de Opisso me hizo esperarlo con anticipación y por fin está aquí.


Es un número buenísimo, con sólo tres especiales, más centradito en las temáticas. Los números extra dedicados al invierno y el verano, como siempre contrastan en los chistes, pero no en el estilo. En ambos hay historia larga a cargo de Sabates (invierno) y Marquillas (en verano).


Pero aquí lo gordo está en el especial de Opisso. Este autor colaboró con TBO desde el principio y dilató su relación con la revista durante muchísimas décadas. Era muy frecuente reimprimir una de sus ilustraciones del veraneo en los años treinta, por ejemplo y completarlo con otra ilustración más contemporánea de algún autor de primera fila de la casa en aquel momento.


Si no estoy mal informado, Opisso hizo las ilustraciones para la Cartilla de Urbanidad. Y mira que tienen años.


En fin, toda una delicia. Un número para guardar con mucho aprecio y admiración.


La introducción de Guiral resalta la apuesta por los personajes fijos del TBO 2000 y Alfons Moliné comenta de manera paralela la evolución de Ediciones TBO y Bruguera. La biografía es del Gran Escobar (tremendita la historieta que acompaña al texto).
